71 Yellowhead Highway and Grand Trunk Pacific Railway
Skeena River West of Terrace, British Columbia, Canada
September 20, 2010

number_name

Three major highways and two railway lines cross western Canada east and west. The northernmost one runs from Edmonton through Jasper and Prince George to Prince Rupert. It is named the Yellowhead Highway for an early nineteenth century blonde Metis fur trapper known as Tête Jaune.

A railroad parallels the highway, originally the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, now part of CN (Canadian National).

These routes follow the beautiful Skeena River, the "river of mists", through the Coastal Mountains to PrinceRupert on the coast. Here we see them both crossing the Exchamsiks River, site of a beautiful provincial park.
