| I spent an hour just sitting on the moraine enjoying the view. I studied it through binoculars, checking for wildlife, but found none. I scanned the distant peaks, really just the northern foothills of the Kluane Ranges despite their glaciers.
It was supremely peaceful, not even the sound of wind or water. Perhaps the high point of my long trip. I considered camping right there, it was very tempting. But I had promised my wife that I would be back in a week and I was still 2700 miles (4350 km) from home (not counting side trips). So I dutifully got back on the highway and drove to just beyond Whitehorse by nightfall. |
