25 Camp at the Arctic Circle
Arctic Circle BLM Wayside on the Dalton Highway, Alaska, USA
September 4, 2010

The weather was cool and pleasant when I passed the Arctic Circle northbound. But my return two days later was in steady rain at near freezing temperatures. There is a primitive campground at the circle, just a few flat places to park and an outhouse.

My camping style is simple, a bed in my van for protection from weather and bears. When the weather is nice, as it usually is in California, I cook and spend all my waking time outside. But when conditions are adverse, as here, I envy the typical Alaskan traveler with a real camper, motor home, or trailer.
