Orick, at the mouth of Redwood Creek, was a small dairy town until the 1960's. Then large scale logging began in the area and Orick boomed. After almost three decades of rapid clearcutting the timber ran out - either protected in the parks or cut down.
Orick is once again small and quiet, just some roadside tourism businesses and the main visitor center for the redwood parks.
