Most buildings of interest in Mendocino are either on Main Street, or Lansing Street (the old coast highway). Strict regulation of new building and architectural controls have preserved the nineteenth century charm of the town, with its redwood water towers and many vacant lots. One can see the whole town on foot in half an hour.
