Highway 128 cuts diagonally across the North Coast Ranges from Cloverdale to the coast near Elk. Roughly midway along it passes through Anderson Valley, noted for its vineyards, and the small town of Boonville.
Boonville's claim to fame is the local language known as "Boontling" invented by children here around 1900.
