One of the least known places in California, this is a grassy valley surrounded by forested mountains.
The last big thing here was the gold rush of the 1850's and gold dredging a few decades later. Now Scotts Valley affords a nice quiet glimpse of times long past for most of California. It is not on the way to anywhere in particular and most people you will see on the road or in the supermarket at Fort Jones are locals.
