Iron Gate Dam on the Klamath River
Siskiyou County California

This stretch of the Klamath River, around behind Mount Shasta, is little known except to the locals. It is valued for its recreation lakes with good fishing and shoreline camping.

It is, however, the focus of major controversy - over whether to remove three power generation dams. If that were done, the Klamath would run free for its entire length, and perhaps regain its original rich salmon and steelhead fisheries.
