Pit River
Modoc. Klamath, and Shasta-Trinity National Forests California
The Pit River rises in a broad arc of springs and boggy meadows, then cuts across the Cascade divide to flow down into Lake Shasta and the Sacramento River. The river was developed long ago with a series of hydroelectric dams, diversions, and powerhouses.
