Lassen Park Road loops around the east side of Lassen Peak. Just south of Manzanita Lake it crosses the Chaos Jumbles, debris from a prehistoric explosion at the Chaos Crags. Trailheads at Summit Lake lead into the gentle wilderness of the eastern half of the park, dotted with lakes and meadows.
Further south the road crosses the Devastated Area and other relicts of the early-twentieth century eruption. The interpretive trail here describes the eruptions and other facets of volcanic activity.
