Downtown Inverness is just one block long, but the community actually straggles along Sir Francis Drake Boulevatd for about three miles. There are a few motels, several restaurants, a couple of marinas. The views across the water are great, and the weather here in the lee of Inverness Ridge is likely to be sunny even when fog prevails elsewhere on the coast. Rustic houses are scattered through the Bishop pine forest, ranging widely in size, age, and pretension.
Most of the shoreline along here is shallow and muddy, and inaccessible because of private property. But sandy beaches are just ahead, in Tomales Bay State Park.
