Virtual Guidebook to Yosemite and the Central Sierra Nevada
Valley View of Yosemite Valley
Yosemite National Park California

Valley View looks east across the Merced River to El Capitan, Cathedral Rocks, and Bridalveil Falls, plus Ribbon Falls during spring high water. This view is now mostly seen by traffic leaving the valley, but before the one-way road system it was the first stunning view for travellers coming from the Arch Rock entrance. Another viewpoint, just east of Valley View, shows the Bridalveil moraine in cross-section, as well as the falls.

A sign on the south side of the parking area indicates the flood level on January 2, 1996, when 2100 visitors were trapped in the valley.
